RAYLAND — Richard Lee and Lorretta Jean (Yeager) Hunker are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary Feb. 14. They were united in marriage Feb. 14, 1958, with Richard’s grandfather, the Rev. John Smith officiating at the Reverend’s home in Bloomingdale, Ohio. They have four children, Brenda Staats of Rayland, Richard Hunker Jr. of Yorkville, Gary Hunker of Rayland and Donald Hunker of Columbus. 50th wedding anniversary: Wayte

CLARENCE “Clem’’ and Dorothy Wayte will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Feb. 8. They were united in marriage in Holy Name Cathedral by the late Rev. John H. Quinn in Steubenville. Mrs. Wayte’s brother, the late Father Donald A. Mantica was a seminarian at St. John Vianney Seminary in Bloomingdale at the time and assisted Rev. Quinn at their marriage. The Waytes are both retired. The parents of Clem and Dorothy are Lawrence and Rosella Wayte and Dr. Ralph and Rose (Linorell) Mantica. The couple will celebrate the day with a family dinner and are planning a summer vacation.

60th wedding anniversary: Vehar

August “Britches” and Anne Zugaro Vehar of Powhatan celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Jan. 31at Shadyside Care Center where they now reside. Vehar was a coal miner for 24 years and after an injury worked at the Powhatan Clinic, retiring after 18 years. He is a UMWA member and former USW member. His wife Anne worked as a grocery clerk at Belmont Grocery in Powhatan operated by her parents, Ben and Domenica Zugaro and her late siblings Sam and Ethel Zugaro.
