The Oglebay Park Golf Club held its annual Michelob Ultra Two-Man Best Ball event, which is sponsored by Carenbauer Distributing, last weekend. The duo of Brooke Garrison and Paul Kurtz prevailed with a score of 57. They were a shot better than T.C. Chappelear and Thomas Chappelear. WHEELING -- It was only a few short months ago that rumors ran rampant that Wheeling Jesuit University's athletic department was in dire straits. DeFruscio takes on new challenge in Philadelphia

WHEELING -- Jay DeFruscio is heading home. The former Wheeling Jesuit University head men's basketball coach and athletic director is Philadelphia born and bred. To that end, DeFruscio is returning to his roots for his latest career challenge. The personable twice-minted Hall of Famer has agreed to become the president of prestigious Cardinal O'Hara High School in the suburbs of Philadelphia. He will begin those duties July 1. Salt Fork Junior Tournament Winners Announced

The annual Salt Fork Junior Golf Tournament was held last Tuesday at Salt Fork State Park Golf Course, which played at par 71 for the event. Winning the title in the 17-18 year old division was Trey Singleton from Meadowbrook. He fired a 76 and was three shots clear of Jacob Feldner and five shots better than than former Meadowbrook standout Devin Webster. Becker: HOF career at WVU could have been much better

WHEELING -- The honors continue to roll in for Eddie Becker. Less than a year after being inducted into the OVAC Hall of Fame, the former Wheeling High basketball star has been selected for induction into the West Virginia University Sports Hall of Fame. Enshrinement ceremonies will take place Saturday, Sept. 16, prior to the West Virginia-Delaware State football game. Becker was a Mountaineer hoop standout from 1952-54.
