St. Clairsville Boys Win Buckeye 8; Shamrock And Red Devil Girls Tie

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – St. Clairsville’s boys won the Buckeye 8 Track and Field Championship Tuesday at Red Devil Stadium with 131 points, which was 20 better than Beaver Local. Harrison Central was a distant third with 85.

On the girls side, Barnesville and St. Clairsville each scored 102 points to tie for first place, while Cambridge was third with 98.

BOYS

Harrison Central’s Jacob Quito was the lone double winner as he claimed the 100 in 11.62 seconds and the 200 in 22.96.

St. Clairsville’s winners were Bruno DeFranco in the 400 (51.57) and Chase Crun in the pole vault (13-0). The Red Devils also ran a 44.01 to capture the 4×100 relay.

Union Local’s Connor Bendo set a meet record in the 3200 with a time of 9:27.81.

Bellaire’s Kayse Rejonis won the shot put with a heave of 53-1 and the Big Reds’ 4×800 ran 8:41.22 for first.

Brooke’s Marcus Reed took the discus with a spin of 151-3.

GIRLS

Martins Ferry’s Alanna Williams continues to impress as she ran to a meet record in the 1600 with her time of 5:04.58. She also crossed the line first in the 800 in 2:21.87. Williams also ran a leg on the meet-record setting 4×400 that times out in 4:17.79.

Indian Creek’s Trinity Green won the sprints with a clocking of 12.72 in the 100 and 26.36 in the 200.

Buckeye Local’s Jenna Delvecchio won the 100 high hurdles in 15.46, but Union Local’s Pazeley Whitely won the 300 lows in 48.02. Indian Creek’s Delana Bove won the 400 in 58.63 and Brooke’s Elizabeth Edgell ran 12:16.60 to take the 3200.

Barnesville took the 4×800 in 10:46.60. St. Clairsville won the 4×100 in 51.26 and Indian Creek captured the 4×200 in 1:48.60.

In the field events, Bellaire’s Alyson Vingia won the discus with a twirl of 138-1, which was a meet record. Union Local’s Jaime Bolon leaped 4-10 to win the high jump and Indian Creek’s Gracie Klinesmith won the long jump at 17-1. Brooke’s Macy Palmer heaved the shot put 37-10.25.
