Ohio’s AG

Dear Editor, As Ohio’s attorney general, Dave Yost is supposed to represent the interests of the people of this state, not Donald Trump and his failed presidential campaign. But that’s exactly what Yost is doing by intervening in a lawsuit to throw out ballots cast by Pennsylvania voters, simply because the Trump campaign is desperate to create doubt around the results of the election. Just like all of the Republicans in D.C. that are “humoring” Trump and going along with his schemes, Dave Yost is playing political games. However, it’s even worse when Ohio’s top law ...

Sharing the burden

Small-town budgets have been facing challenges for many years. As costs to provide basic services increase while taxpayers exhibit less willingness to dig deeper into their pockets, the task facing many local officials becomes even more difficult. Give officials in Belmont, Bethesda and Belmont County’s Goshen Township credit for trying out a new model of local government. During their most recent meeting, Belmont Village Council members discussed purchasing a used pavement roller, at a cost of $14,500. Even that relatively low price would be a strain on the village budget, ...

Joe Biden a noble, corageous man

Dear Editor, Ernest Hemingway said: “Courage is grace under pressure.” I believe Joe Biden is a very courageous man as demonstrated by his endless grace. Alice Cary wrote in her poem Nobility: “For he who is honest is noble ... ” Joe Biden is a noble man as he demands truth based on facts, on science, and on expertise. Joe will show his courage and nobility by facing the dangerous Covet-19 undoubtedly, transparently, and vigorously. Joe will strive to conquer global warming by working tirelessly to develop non-carbon, renewable clean energy, and restoring the United ...

The great theft

Dear Editor, I remember as a child watching the Christmas cartoon “How the Grinch stole Christmas.” It was a fantasy. It could never happen in real life. How wrong I was. You see, Virginia, there is a Grinch. In fact there are several Grinches — media, big tech, the Democrat party, states under the control of Democrat leaders, the banking system, China and pollsters. And what they are stealing is not Christmas but the election process, the Constitution, the first amendment, and our republic. If you watch the news you can probably already understand why people are fuming. ...

Raise the minimum wage

Dear Editor, The first act I want our new President Biden to do is sign an executive order mandating (violation a misdemeanor) the wearing of a mask near people outside of the home. Wearing of a mask is the proven best thing people can do to fight the killer virus COVID-19. Immediately after the first act, I would want Biden to take necessary steps to increase the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour tied to inflation. Barbara Ehrenreich in her book “Nickel and Dimed, On (Not) Getting By in America,” working herself at prevailing minimum wage (about $7 an hour) in three different ...

Blackmail the universe? Not!

Dear Editor, In his “Great Divorce” (chapter 8), C.S. Lewis states the following: “What some people say on earth is that the final loss of one soul gives the lie to all the joy of those who are saved.’ “Ye see it does not.” “I feel in a way that it ought to.” “That sounds very merciful: but see what lurks behind it.” “What?” “The demand of the loveless and the self-imprisoned that they should be allowed to blackmail the universe: that till they consent to be happy (on their own terms) no one else shall taste joy: that theirs should be the final ...
