Red Devils lose to Bishop Hartley

COLUMBUS — St. Clairsville saw another fine season end on a sour note Friday night

The Red Devils (9-3) dropped a 23-13 decision to homestanding Bishop Hartley on Jack Ryan Field in an Ohio Division IV, Region 15 quarterfinal round playoff encounter.

Brady Schafer passed for 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 10 of 14. He found Cole Thoburn on a 36-yard strike and then teamed with Colt Westlake from 27 yards out. Makenna Booth added a PAT. A two-point try failed.

Gavin Schoolcraft was the leading rusher with 33 yards on 11 carries. Dino Burk managed just 29 yards on eight trips. Thoburn and Westlake each caught two passes.

In other playoff action, No. 5 River (9-2) throttled No. 4 Lancaster Fairfield Christian Academy, 48-15, at Sugar Grove Berne Union High School in a Division VII, Region 27 quarterfinal round game; and No. 8 Monroe Central (7-5) fell on the road to top-seeded Beaver Eastern 55-14.

Linsly 24, Morgantown 7

MORGANTOWN – The Cadets (5-5) evened their record with a road win at Pony Lewis Field as Malte Feil caught two touchdown passes, kicked a trio of extra points and a 39-yard field goal.

Feil caught an 83-yard six-pointer from Braden Wade and also landed a 7-yard scoring strike. Atley Cowan ran one yard for the final TD.

Feil caught four passes for 106 yards. Lucca Troullos had four catches for 50.

Wade finished 10 of 20 for 196 yards and two TDs. Mikey Troullos ran 12 times for 42 yards.

“We’ll definitely take this win. It feels good right now,” Linsly head coach B.J. Depew said.
